Through Stories We Exist
The area that we know today as Auraria has long been a place of gathering in Denver.
The flowing and convergence of two rivers on its land has always made it fertile ground for Coloradan people, families, and communities.
Like the water of the rivers, the stories of the people inhabiting Auraria have flowed throughout the land since time immemorial.

As the rivers today threaten to dry up, will people continue to gather and find belonging in Auraria?
The students on this campus often repeat stories about how they feel a sense of aimlessness on campus. That there is something deep but they have a hard time connecting to it. As though they know its meant to be a place they can call “home” but cannot find that deeper connection.
The story feels lost and disconnected. Yet there is a pull for us here. A desire to learn more. Many people are feeling drawn towards that urge. That power that pulls us closer to this land and to each other.
People like yourself, you who have wanted to better understand what has happened here. Those who have personally been connected to Auraria. That pull to go deeper is irresistible. We encourage you to follow that path.
The Story Sharers
Will you heed the call and listen to the stories of Auraria?
The stories must flow for us to understand Auraria’s history and our connections to this magical place.
We are looking for those of you who are willing to listen. To undergo a journey to find the underlying meaning of Auraria, its people and its land.
We ask you to become our “story listeners” and walk this campus and hear what has come before.
Join us to understand the cycles of invitation and displacement on this land and foster your own story of connection and community by understanding what it means to call a place home.
Immersive Walking Tour
Explore The Campus
Join us for a walking immersive tour that explores the Auraria Campus. 5 different locations on campus will be turned into creative installations inspired by the actual stories of people who have been on this land.
Dive into the history of Auraria in a completely unique way. Instead of stories told behind glass displays, the stories of Auraria come to life with live performances and sensorial experiences showing what it felt like to live, on Auraria.

Over the last year, in partnership with the DCPA and AHEC, we have created ongoing opportunities to create an inclusive devising process.
From public social sharing events to one on one meetings with former and current community members, we wanted to create safe environment for stories to be shared.
Authenticity
Stories How They Want To Be Shared
Instead of interpreting the stories that we selected for this experience, we wanted to ensure that the stories exist and represent the senses, emotions, and interpersonal relationships of the storyteller.
Each storyteller was partnered wtih a local artist who helped their story come to life and existe in real time.

Auraria for many people has been a place of welcome invitation and a place they have found home. This land has a unique property that brings all people together. As we walk this campus we encourage people to find their connection to it.

In partnership with the DENVER CENTER FOR PERFORMING ARTS and The Auraria Campus, we are offering tickets at little to no cost to the general public. Through a generous grant program we aim to provide this as an educational resource and opporutnty for the Denver communty to connect with this campus.
